There are three hotels near the Newport PATH station: Doubletree, Courtyard, and The Westin. All three are reliable hotel chains with standard amenities. However, we recommend the Courtyard because it has the best room rates on weekends, lowest parking fee, and is the only hotel to offer free wireless internet in guest rooms. All three hotels have comparable room rates on weeknights, but you’ll pay more for parking and internet at the Doubletree and The Westin. The Courtyard and The Westin also have indoor pools with hot tubs, which guests appreciate. Overall, guests like the rates and spacious rooms at the Courtyard and we recommend this hotel.

The Exchange Place PATH station is on the Hudson River where there’s a waterfront walkway and a park, restaurants and museums are just a few blocks away.
Getting Around: From most areas of Jersey City, you can be in Manhattan in under 20 minutes via the PATH. From Exchange Place to the World Trade Center, it takes just six minutes. From the World Trade Center, it’s easy to connect to the Subway to reach other areas of New York City.
What to Eat: Historic downtown Jersey City has some fun eateries like Cafe Batata for Brazilian brunch fare and Pasta dal Cuore for Italian food. If you’re looking for something to go, food trucks often set up shop near the many PATH stations, Mordi’s Schnitzel Truck is particularly popular. Beer-loving history buffs enjoy visiting the Light Horse Tavern, which opened in the 1850s.
Things to Do: Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty sit between Jersey City and Manhattan and are the top attractions; cruises to these sights depart from Liberty State Park. Kids (and kids at heart) enjoy the Liberty Science Center.
